Miss K’s all the rage toy and product review for 2009.

by Alison on December 22, 2009 · 2 comments

Toys have never cluttered our living space – and I vowed that they never would.  However, with my little gal hinging on 14 months it would appear that we are beginning to accumulate toys.  We (Chris and I) have come to an agreement to try to buy a minimal amount of good quality toys as opposed to loads of junky ones and for the most part have held true to our words.

There are a few toys and products that are favoured by our Little Miss K (and, I confess by me too!) and are what is all the rage in our home.

TOYS

Haba Cordoba Blocks –These building blocks include 16 pieces including rattles, bells, mirrors, and a prism – all made of beech wood and colored with non-toxic paint.  Its bright, and the prism adds some sparkle.  In my opinion you can never have enough sparkle

Little People House– This is the first thing my gal goes to in the morning.  The set comes with a Mom, Dad and Baby but we bought her a few more extra little people, and she has herself a merry ole time setting them up and moving them all over the house!  This is definately a fave of hers… she has had it for a few months and still going strong with it.

Retro RE-Issues (like this one from fisher price)– how classic is this one!  I had one just like it and I admit I probably like playing with this one more then she does…

classic!

PRODUCTS

Teach My Baby Kit– Seriously, I cant rave enough about this kit.  I read reviews before purchasing since it was a bit pricey but am so glad we bought it.  Its suggested to make a huge production when taking it out – and what a hit that has been.  Now, everytime I pull it out she squeals and claps her hands with excitement.  She loves it and it also helps her learn while promoting some great quality time.  We do it as a family and my partner and I have had some good laughs doing it with her.

Sugar Booger Melamine Sippy– I love this sippy and so does she.  The spout is great and so are the handles.  Added plus is that she feels like such a big girl when drinking from it because its a ‘mug’ like the ones she sees Mommy and Daddy with.

Sprouts Organic Storage Bins– Best storage EVER!  They pack a lot of stuff and look great in her room.  We have the monkey and the elephant and I love them so much I think I might get the others.

LOVE the blocks, where did you find them? I have a similar mind when it comes to toys. I am an Infant Development Constultant so I am super picky and weed out the flashy crap to get to the good stuff that actually has a developmental purpose! Great toy list :)

I found the blocks at a few different stores… but found the best bargain on the blocks (20 less then everywhere else!) at Bellies In Bloom in Royal Oak area.
