My name is Jessica Bender, I am a 27 year old first time mom. I was born, raised, and currently reside in Victoria, BC Canada. I live with my husband Brandon and our infant daughter Everly. Brandon and I met in grade nine (1996) and were finally married on July 25, 2008… two weeks after the wedding we were pregnant with Everly, who was born on May 10, 2009. In my other life, I am an Aboriginal Infant Development Consultant servicing the nine local First Nations, as well as Urban and Metis families in the Greater Victoria area.
I started blogging as a keepsake for our daughter. I wanted to remember the pregnancy that brought her here as well as to chronicle her life with us. I wanted her to be able to read this blog one day and know how much she has touched our lives in so many different ways. I wanted her to see our joy, love, challenges and triumphs.
After the blogging process had begun, I found that writing became just as much for me as it was for her. There were so many things that I encountered about motherhood or life with a newborn that no one had ever told me about- I wanted to share these findings with other moms, so they wouldn’t be in the dark like I was! What I came to find out, is that other moms were in the same situations that I had been, or they were facing similar challenges, thoughts and emotions. I never expected blogging to give me the feeling of support and community, but it has and I am hooked!
