Rant - consignment store
Has anyone dealt with a certain ....edited by Brenda N ....consignment store in James Bay and succesfully received money for their sold items? I am seriously having doubts I will ever see my money.

Re: Rant - consignment store
I posted on here a few weeks ago about my concerns regarding this store and stuff I had taken in. It is almost 6 weeks ago and they can't find the sheet with my stuff. I have the number, took it off an item of mine on the rack. Kept getting different answers when I asked for the sheet. Very bad feeling about it and next week is when I should get paid. What is happening to you there?

Re: Rant - consignment store
Your situation sounds very similar to mine. When I go to the store the owner is never there and they tell me the invoices are not kept on premise and they are not trained to do transactions.
I have left numerous phone messages and the one time I get through, I am told again "she is not on the premises". I guess the next thing would be to call the BBB? Is she selling the items but not paying people out?

Re: Rant - consignment store
I kept going over to get my invoice until finally I caught her in. She could not find it and then said because it had been so long since I took the stuff in it would not be in the front with the others. Then I explained I had come each week at least once and she said she knew nothing about that. The gentleman who works there was standing there so I stated that last Thursday when I was in he would be letting her know I wanted it. She had to then say he must have forgotten. He had not spoken up although I had talked with him at least 4 times over it. I know my stuff is there, some I can't see. Two brand new pairs of shoes in boxes, and Aldo boys and a smaller boys from the bay. Don't see either of the Gap coats. The man did say the Aldo shoes sold right away. When the story is always different to me something is very wrong. Would love to know if others have taken items there? Let's keep this going and see if we can get somewhere with it. I wil keep going over after work. I get off at 3. Good luck.

Re: Rant - consignment store
Sorry to hear of your situation. I visit the store in question often and have seen the owner pay out to consignees many times, so yes, there is a system in place and people do get paid.
It is easier if you take in your original receipt slip that is itemized and dated as everything is done by hand and that makes looking up accounts a lot faster. As you can imagine, everything takes a lot longer without computers, especially with the volume of items dropped off, so please be patient, it will all get sorted out. The owner is a wonderful lady and I know she is trying very hard to keep up to date with it all.
I have items in on consignment as well and have had pay outs, so I'm also speaking from my own personal experience as well as observing.

She seemed very nice when I dropped my items off. This process has left me with very little confidnece in this business. I hope I am one of those people who do get paid out.

This would be alarming to me. I think you should report it. Doesn't sound right that you should have to be chasing after what's rightfully yours. Very bad business practice.

Re: Rant - consignment store
I would love to take my consignment sheet over but they could not find it any where, haven't been told they have found it yet.I am going this week and it is supposed to be payout so time will tell. To the poster who asked...no you can't just take your stuff out once you consign it.I have consigned for years and tried this store as she was requesting stuff. i certainly hope she gets it in order because at this moment I have a very bad feeling about it. Too many different answers as to why my form was not there. I have been very patient but it is getting harder to continue giving patience. They have hundreds of dollars of my stuff and I have nothing to prove it but a number....

Re: Rant - consignment store
I was told she was going to be in today (AGAIN), so when I called, I was advised she was on her way out the door when a family issue came up. So yet another excuse.
I will be in touch with the BB tomorrow to see what I can do. Or maybe I will phone Olson on your side and he can do a segment on this.

Re: Rant - consignment store
My 2 days off are coming up and I am going to head over there frequently. Might go tomorrow after work . It is concerning and I have a feeling I just kissed a lot of stuff goodbye. Hope I am wrong. Too many stories I have been told there. That does not make sense. Thanks Debbie.

Re: Rant - consignment store
I feel I have tried and tried to reach this women and no phone calls returned. I don't recall every dealing with a store with such a run around and very poor customer service. considering it is a newer shop there isn't any concern for keeping the customer.
I was in touch with BB today and will be filing a complaint. I have spent so much time and energy on this. All it would take is a quick phone call. But I'm wondering if there is something to hide.. bankrupcy?
Good luck, and hope you make contact on your 2 days off.

Wow. You ALL should file complaints with the BBB.
I have opinions of my own - strong opinions - but I don't always agree with them - George Bush
