OK, I'm PI$$ED,

My daughter bought a shirt from that BIG NAME yoga store downtown for $60 something dollars. WELLLLLL, they have a NO RETURN policy if you remove the tags!!!!
Basically what happened was...

She bought a shirt, I feel is very provacative and not appropriate for teens. She's had it on a total of 10 mins, I tell her she can't wear it and we will return/exchange it. I take it into the store and am told that since she removed the tags it's not returnable. They also point out a SMALL mark on the front and tell me she could have bought it, gone and worked out in it and am now returning it. I take it home and with a face cloth remove this SMALL mark???

I am told "well make her wear a tank top underneath" my reply to that is "how many teens do you know change after they walk out the door, I'm not stupid, I did it"

I TOTALLY understand having return policies but when a store has NO returns I am angry. This should be advertized everywhere in the store.

I even asked the manager lady "have you ever bought something, tried it on in the store, bought it, wear it for 20 mins and not like it", She replied "no". She will buy it and wear it around for awhile WITH THE TAGS ON.

K, I'm done ranting, I know I'll never shop there again and neither will my daughter. I feel they have VERY poor customer service. They seem to be all about the money because if they can't resell it, ie no tags, then they won't return it!!!!
I now own a shirt I can't even fit into, lol

That sucks. I'd get the head offices phone number and call them. Make a formal complaint maybe they will be able to help you.

Is their return policy clearly posted somewhere in the store? If not, you should definitely be able to return it. I think they are required by law to have their return policy posted somewhere you can see it BEFORE you buy.

Ooooh, I had a similar experienc with the same store. I had the WORST experience ever with a certain over priced yoga store. The WORST. Last year my DH bought me a jacket from there. The woman he purchased it from took the tags off, put them in the box and sealed it. The jacket was too small so I attempted to return it and they refused to take it back because the tags were removed. I was LIVID. The manager was not interested in dealing with me at all. I attempted to contact them several times to no avail. Finally I sent an email to everyone I knew telling of my experience and CCed it to the manager and the owner of the company. Finally got a response from someone in Seattle who gave me my $ back. It was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a clothing store and I will NEVER shop there again.

Phew, it's a year later and apparently I'm still not over it!

Okay, so here I am...asking the age old question....did you have a receipt??? The second thing is..having managed for a few companies..this is not an odd policy. If you work in retail you know how many people try to return without either the tag or a receipt...and the sad thing is becasue of the less honest people..it really affects the honest people. The reason for tag on is due to a couple things...if it is an item they carry seasonally...the info for the season is on the tag...so it may look like this seasons item..BUT could be last seasons....so if you don't have a receipt...there is no way for them to tell when you purchased it...THUS they don't know how much you paid....
Then the do you have a receipt??? Most stores now require this..and once again due to the dishonest people who have taken advantage of companies. THink of ALL the consignment stores..places like KIV and Value village....if you were dishonest...you could get an item..especially where one is labeled for a specific store and try to return it for cash.....THIS HAPPENS OFTEN!!! There is a reason why companies have policies...unfortunatley..it doesnt benefit everybody all the time.
I understand you are upset with this company BUt they are not alone with this policy...fact is..it looked worn due to the small mark......it was not being returned to the store in the same shape as when it left...they might have had to discount it for another purchaser...and the tags were not on...
new tags would have to be hand written...

HAVING said all that....they could have also tried to make the situation a win-win one...EXCEPT for the fact the item was marked...they could have informed you this once about the policy...and at least done an exchange...It wasn't worth losing a customer over!!!

Just wanted to add that yes, we had a receipt. And the tags. That the store clerk removed herself. All I wanted was an exchange (not a refund) and they refused. It was the worst service I have ever received.

yup, in that case they could have tried to be a bit more accomodating. It is not worth losing a customer over such a trivial thing...especially when they have the receipt and tags!! Again, only the small lark really plays in a tiny bit....they could have tried spot washing.....
It sure sucks getting bad service!!

YES,
I had the tags and the receipt, bought 2 days before. I brought the shirt home and spot washed this mark off in seconds, looked like a makeup smudge from her putting it over her head.

Scottish fantom: she's not out anything, I am, my money, my shirt!!!

Never saw any return or policy signs but by then I was steaming and not looking around.

AND.... I SAW the teller remove tags from other peoples items and then say, "you know this is a final sale". I never thought about at the time or anything about it until reading the last poster!!!

SNEAKY....

When we have shopped there for my step-daughter they told us that there are no refunds if the tags are removed and they put a sticker over the price and left the tags on. They have always told us the return policy. I am sorry your experience has been so bad. You could try selling it here and other online selling forums. Items from that store sell very well on EBay (don't know if I can mention them by name or not - please correct my post if I am wrong), sometimes for more than you paid.

I've bought several items from that store and everytime they have told me that I can return it with the tags left on. I think the service there could be alot better. I find some of the staff pretty snobby and don't like the fact that they would rather talk about thier night out than help me with an armful of clothes. It still doesn't stop me from shopping there, I LOVE the clothes. Plus, I find most stores like that now-adays. Customer Service is becoming a thing of the past unfortunetly.

Most stores have return policies like this. I'm surprised they didn't at least let you exchange it for something else. Especially if you still had the tags, receipt and it was only a couple days. Tags can be put back on with a plastic tag gun. Sorry to here you had to go through that. :(

You guys have me at a loss here.
On the off chance I've tried to return a couple things
at Zeller's and Walmart without tags and no luck.

I really don't know what you expect.
Playing devil's advocate, put yourself in
the owner's shoes. Think about the stunts
people must pull.

Sorry, just my honest opinion.

Perhaps you need to read the complaints a little more closely. In both cases the tags, though removed from the garments, were returned with the items. In my case the tags had been removed by the salesperson. Also, both parties had receipts as well.

I think that returning an item that hasn't been worn with the tags, removed but present, and the receipts, is not "too much to expect".

I called head office and was pretty much told the same thing, store policy, too bad so sad. I mentioned the fact that another teller was removing the tags from someone else's items and was told it was probably a new staff member. That doesn't make it MY fault. All I can say is they've lost MANY good paying customers due to their poor customer service.....
