Hi - how old are the ones you have with you? There are a few activities on that are free or pretty inexpensive.

The library has story time for various age groups - 1-2 year old I think and then 3-5 year olds. Check at the desk for details.

Shawnigan Community Centre has toddler time for 4 (or 5 - can't remember) and under on Thursday mornings drop in from 9:15 to 11:15am for $2 per child or $5 for a family. The Health Unit also puts on a Toddler Group from 9:30 to 10:30 on that day for 1 and over. There a a speaker, kids can play and there are snacks. It is free.

There is also a booklet that is around some places (probably try the library/community centre) that list inexpensive family activites in the Valley.

Swimming or skating at the rec centre.

Apparently Transfer Beach in Ladysmith is a good place to take kids.

I do too, but just a bit out of town in Cowichan Station. A few of us who frequent the Cowichan Valley Kids website have been trying to set up a get together. You should try to join us if you can!
