Fish Oil for toddler
At what age did you start giving fish oil to your toddler??? My DS is 17mo and I would like to start him on it, but DH thinks he is too young.

Why would you give a kid fish oil? Not knocking it or anything, I just have never heard that before and I would like to know what it's for. Hehe.

I give it to my child who is younger than yours. We are giving it because it was recommended by our naturopath to help with eczema.
It's one of the things we are trying for the inside, to work outside kwim?

We have been giving dd "Arctic Cod Liver Oil" since she was 18 months, it helps a lot with dry skin and cradle cap. She loves it, as it is peach flavored.

try the flavoured orange liquid. my kids found it okay, and once they were chewing safely we graduated to the strawberry gelcaps by nature something, you just chew the gelatin ball and there's oil inside. my kids love them.
fish oil is a source of EFA's and fab brain food for kids. also vitamin D and great for skin.

For a minute there, I was myself.

For the eczema, if you haven't tried it.. what really worked for us after trying so many body creams for our ds.. the Huggies one that is safe for eczema (blue bottle) actually helped a lot with his dryness. Took away a lot of the redness as well. Didn't expect it from Huggies!

We have been giving it to our daughter (who is now 2) since she was 1 month. We used to use Nordic Naturals peach flavoured oil but now use the strawberry capsules (bothe formulated for these ages groups). She loves them and it makes me feel better because her picky eating is extreme!!!

We give both of our sons the Nordic Naturals berry flavoured fish oil. Fish oil is so good for brain development. It has also been found to be particularly good for boys and helps them focus better, has a calming effect and is used in particular to help with ADHD and Autism. But it is helpful for anyone.
We started our first son around age one, then got out of the habit for a long time and now we're back into it again every day.

Where do you find the flavoured fish oils/gel caps? I tried getting my 3 year old to take my regular omega oil in some juice and that did not go over very well.

What is the best kind to start off with? I want to look into this a bit more for my ds. He's almost 14 months old.
Also, how much does it cost and such?

I would try the Nordic Naturals berry or peach flavoured oil. You can just give it to him on a spoon.
If he doesn't like it then try it mixed in with yogurt, oatmeal or something like that. My guys take it straight, which is surprising because I can't stand the taste!
As for cost, I can't remember, sorry. It lasts awhile though, that's why I can't remember the price, I haven't bought it in awhile.
