After-school Care Spaces, Rogers area

Postby Guest on Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:10 am

Hi,

I have a preschooler and am starting to think about making arrangements for kindergarten in Sept 2008. From experience does anyone know if there are usually enough after-school care spaces for the kids that need them in a school or are there X spaces and many kids who have to look elsewhere? I called Rogers and they said their waitlist is full and not even accepting names, even for Sept. '08. What other options are out there for after-school care than the school affiliated programs? I'm 15 mos in advance and already concerned. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks :D

after 2 years on the waitlist my neighbour still hasn't gotten her kids into the afterschool care. rogers OSC is in pretty high demand.

i know busses from kids club, his kids and pacific christian pick up from rogers. you could try one of them. i don't know if they do noon pick up though. you might have better luck to put your child in afternoon kindergarten and have them in morning kindercare at rogers. it's not as popular so might not fill up as fast :)

My son attends Rogers and there is a girl in his class who couldn't get into the afterschool care program at Rogers so she goes to the daycare at Lakehill. The Kids Clubs transports her to and from the school via their bus.

You can also call the childcare referral office at 382-7000 and find out what family daycares in that area do pick up and drop offs at Rogers. I know there is one provider named Joanne that does. I think her daycare is called Peek-A-Boo (the referral office can give you her contact info). She is full right now but you could get in touch with her and get on a waitlist.

Good luck.
