Extreme Home makeover thread . .
Before my inbox gets flooded with questions, this thread is removed for now. We cannot allow personal/individual fundraising on KIV in any manner; it has been part of our site guidelines since KIV's inception. I'm not trying to be an unfeeling person. I cannot imagine being in the shoes of the family in need.
But KIV has lots of families who've faced financial and emotional heartbreak. And they couldn't fundraise on here either. It sounds like this family is getting the word out via tv and friends, and that is great.
Sorry that I messed up in locking the thread, it looks like it was moved but if you click on it it is unavailable.
I appreciate your patience and understanding.

I read WCM's note, and accepted it, walked away.
Well here I am now... and I have some questions. No doubt, that there are several who need or have needed, or will need assistance at some time. Having acknowledged that, How is this case any different than at christmas time when hampers and gifts were organized for KIV families?? (I am in no way shape or form suggesting that that should not happen either!!!)
In those cases, this forum was used to facilitate the organization of those events. In this case, the forum was being used as a conduit for information.
I understand that there must be regulations, just wondering what the difference is.....
Confused and looking for clarification ~

Tammy, if the time comes that I can share the info in that thread, I will. Those interested can seek you out via the local tv stations and reno stores.
ryer, you are very correct, and therein lies my indecision, and this is why I removed the original post for now, but it is not because KIV does not agree with it's intent and it's handling.
Like any thing, KIV has changed over the years as it has needed to, trying to meet members needs and follow the suggestions of many, while still protecting everyone here as well as the site itself from possible harm or situations that can become unbalanced.
Just like having the anon feature for sexual posts but not for those in need or parents in trouble? We do see the imbalance of such a stance, yet it was born originally out of the history of the community. And we are often stuck with knowing what will happen if we do change something, for we have done all these things in the past and have seen how they played out then.
We are working on addressing all of these issues, and hence I ask for everyone's patience. Solutions and changes are not reached overnight.
thanks.

I just wanted to start by saying I love KIV the support and understanding from everyone is amazing!!!!
Now I can understand where you are coming from WCM and I know lots of family's need help and that this site could be flooded with all of that. But the support and the need to help out from everyone was huge. Is there not a way to make a forum for these family's to talk about there situations and for people who want to help out as much as they can, can do so? But for people who do not want to read about the troubles of others can stay away from it if they like? Because to me this site is about helping people out by selling used items, to giving away free stuff, moral support during pregnancy, its about bettering family life and giving us moms/dads someone to talk to during those late night feedings. I do not want to upset anyone by this but I just wanted to say what was on my mind. I just want to say Thank you to all you KIV who help out families who need it!
