Reasons for BRIGHT red ears?????

Postby Brigette on Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:11 pm

DS has bright red ears. Yesturday started with just one ear and now today both are lobster red. He has no symptoms of anything and has tubes to allow any infection to drain. I've googled but can't find anything.

Anyone know the reasons for red ears????

Friends are like butt cheeks.
Crap might separate them, But they always come back together.

My son would get this, but it was a reaction to something he ate. Usually a food additive or coloring. But I don't recall it lasting over night. :-k

Even though he has ear tubes (which are to help the wax drain properly) he can still get an infection. It may also be a reaction to something but if it started with one ear and went to the other later I would say to get them checked by a Doctor to rule out an infection. Some Clinics are open till 9.

DS seems to get them whenever he is overtired or too warm.... and they feel quite hot to the touch.

I would think an allergic reaction as well - but to be safe, you could call the nurseline - their database might turn something up....

Like Sunnygirl, my oldest son used to get bright red ears or just one when he was overtired. They too would feel very warm to the touch. Sometimes there was no obvious reason. It started when he was just a little fellow. You know he is now 25 and still gets red ears on occasion. Just one of those mysteries of life, lol.

I hope that is all it is with your son. :-)
