5 years ago today!
5 years ago this month, me and two guys (from the company I was working with at the time) decided to quit our jobs and start our own business venture from scratch. Today, after 5 years of really hard work and many moments of turmoil (and me wanting to quit), I sit here putting together our weekly Interoffice News that will be sent out to our full-time salaried staff of 53 people…… plus another 90 people who work for us doing regional sales all over the world through commission. It’s mind blowing to think that just 3 people created this out of thin air and now we’re international!
Amazing what can happen in just 5 years!
To commemorate this milestone Anniversary, a bunch of us from the company are planting trees in our yards. Apparently the Traditional 5th Anniversary symbol is “wood” so that’s where we came up with this idea.
I feel so proud of all that we have accomplished – especially considering that NONE of the 3 of us have university educations!
Boy am I ever glad I didn’t wimp out and quit! The company started in July of 2003 and I had my first child in June of 2005 - many times I had such a hard time struggling with keeping up. But now my son is 3 and things are getting much easier.
Sometimes you just gotta stick it out and keep going - especially if you know there is a definite pay-off in the end. I feel like I've just recently been reminded of this huge life lesson

Happy Anniversary! That is great news to hear, and helps to inspire those of us that feel it is impossible!

Congrats Martha Mommy.
It is great when all the hard work starts paying off.
My DH too quit his job and ventured out on his own a long time ago (before I met him) and through many struggles he is doing great (and I'm reaping the rewards
) and he could never go back to working for someone else.

Congratulations on this major milestone, M!
I celebrated my first year in business for myself on July 1, and while it was also scary in the beginning, it is truly the best move I have ever made..
