Is it too late for me to buy a local, organic turkey?

Postby AdamandRyansmom on Sat Oct 04, 2008 12:32 pm

 ok, I'm a ditz, but my brother called me today to ask what's up for next weekend, Thanksgiving dinner, and I froze! What? NEXT weekend? Oh my gosh, didn't even think about it!

So I'm hosting for my family, and wanted to get a nice, fresh, organic, local turkey for dinner...my "new" get healthy plan for my family...so I'm stuck.

I usually run to Thrifty's, grab a frozen turkey, and throw it together for a quick and easy dinner...this year I want to be different, I want organic, no hormones, not frozen, yummy turkey for dinner!!

So....where can I buy one?

Thanks!!

question: what's the difference in price for an organic/local/especially wonderful turkey from a frozen one? Is it really worth it? Is it possible to get one that's clean? I just remember winning one a few years ago, and spending a good part of the morning "squeezing" all the feather follicles out - like blackheads... it was very gross, and i was traumatized for quite a long time after that (not to mention i couldn't eat it after that...)

Sorry if i've disturbed anyone... I had just never truly LOOKED at my turkeys before, and that one was extraordinarily blackheaded.....and the follicles were really big and long... ugh... now i'm going to relive it again...
