What are you doing to make Christmas special this year?
Every year I want to make Christmas as meaningful as I possibly can for my family. Less about the gifts, more about service. I've been trying to think about what I can do this year to make Christmas more special, and this is what I've come up with. I think this year I'm going to do the 12 days of Christmas for my husband. The 12 days leading up to Christmas I'm going to think of ways I can really do something special for DH. I find that so much of my energy/patience/love is focussed on my children, and I need to show it to DH more. I think the relationship between husband and wife can really set the tone for a family, and my hope is that if I put all my effort into making him happy this Christmas, then ours will be a very happy home this holiday season.
I would love to hear what others are doing to make Christmas special this year, and maybe I can use one of your ideas too.

This year we are going to make sure all of the gifts we give are "ethical" in nature. Used/repurposed when possible, eco-friendly, organic, fair-trade. No plastic, no crap gift because you just have to find "something" to give, even though there is no real meaning behind the gift. We are calling it our "feel good" Christmas. It is something we have talked about for years and have now committed to doing.

This isnt really somehing we're 'doing' but this will be our first year in our own house that we own, as a family at christmas. we wont be spending the day at our parents house. Christmas is something we are doing for our kids this year, rather than our parents doing dinner for us etc. Im excited. Kind of makes me feel like an adult. Not sure how I feel about that part tho
