I need glasses!!! Where is the best place to shop??
I just found out that I need glasses. I was a little shocked as I thought I had 20/20 vision, but I am gettting older... anyway I can not beleive the cost of these things
The cheapest I have found was $300 for the lens and the frames. I guess thats a good deal huh? This is all new to me, so if anyone knows where a good cheap place to get glasses is, please let me know. Thanks!

Yup, I have to agree...Costco by far. I got mine (frames, lens, coating, case) for about $160, and they are nice frames!

I ordered a pair today! I shopped around but ended up just going with Walmart. I got a very helpful person (who wasn't shy about telling me which frames didn't suit me
). They have a "rollback" on the lenses for $115 and a decent selection of frames $99 & under. My total was $214 and they'll be ready in about a week.
I don't do Costco but it sounds like they would be good too...

I don't do Costco or Wal-Mart...but I have to admit Wal-Mart has been the only place I can afford to get glasses. The staff is very good, and Dr. Poon does their eye exams.

Hey,
You should take a look at http://www.clearlycontacts.ca. My husband got a pair of really nice glasses on this website for 81.00 shipping incl. They are based out of Vancouver, and in order to try the glasses on, you just need to order them and they will send you the pairs to try on, then send the pairs back that you are not interested in keeping without providing them any credit card info. We ended up sending them payment via cheque, which is acceptable as well.
It saved us a fortune on glasses for him, and they have really a great customer service dept. to call if you need any help, or have any questions to ask..
Happy shopping!

Re: I need glasses!!! Where is the best place to shop??
Our family of four have gotten all our our current glasses from Wal-Mart and we're very happy with them. I used to be a staunch "you must get them from a proper optical store or from the eye doctor" Boy, was I naive!! My current glasses from WM are my favorite and have the most "options" (transition lenses, clip on lenses for driving, high index, etc) and were the most reasonable (CHEAPEST!!).
DH's last pair from there, we bought them here at the Langford store, he sat on them in Calgary
, we re-ordered them in Calgary under warranty and they were waiting for us here when we got home. Could've replaced them there if we'd been staying an extra couple days.

Just wanted to say that this company is pretty amazing. I had been ordering contacts from them for awhile - but took the plunge and ordered glasses after seeing this- they were here by Friday (yesterday) and the frames are cool! The lenses are a little thicker than I wanted, so I called them and they are replacing them and paying for hte postage back on the these ones!
If you have a low prescription you can get them from as low as $38 - and I have a 20% coupon code (TELLAFRIEND).
I didn't see where there was the option for htem to send them to you to try them on, but you can upload a picture of yourself and try them on that - and there is a 30 day return policy - even on precription glasses. IT is handy if you have a pair of glasses that already fit you because there is sizing info on the inside of the arm. And you will have to measure the distance between your pupils (either in the mirror or have someone else do it).
Anyhow - hope that helped! I really can't speak highly enough about my experience with them over the last few days - if you want I can forward you a picture of my new specs (even though they are actually being sent back
)Living the dream
