Good Mystery Authors?
I really enjoy reading Mystery stories that are in a Series. However, I have kind of run the course on the ones I do read and they come out with only a new one every few years that takes about 6 months to get from the library.
Looking for something along the same line as Anne Perry, Elizabeth George, JD Robb, Sandra Brown (novels), Deborah Crombie, or Sue Grafton.
I am sure there are other great ones out there but most of the good ones are popular so it isn't easy to find them on the shelves.

Thanks. I admit the knitting part seems a bit odd but the mystery sounds good. I will see what the library has.

I'm a knitter so it appealed but it really did add *something* to the story, which was good.

Oh yes I remember Patricia Cornwell. I read all of hers until she got onto that serial killer and it just got boring because there was no conclusion and then I got annoyed that she killed of the main characters boyfriend. I will have to try her again.
I will check out Kathy Reichs, thanks.

Harlan Coben (Tell No One) is excellent.
Ken Follet (Eye of the Needle) (Pillars of the Earth) is another prolific author.
Jeffrey Archer (Kane and Abel) has a lot of good books too.
Dean Koontz (Life Expectancy) is great, but maybe not considered 'mystery'?
HTH.......Charlenek

Re: Good Mystery Authors?
Janet Evanovich writes some good mysteries - start with 'One for the Money' and go up from there - think she's up to about #15 in the series so far.
Charlaine Harris - writes not only the Sookie Stackhouse series but has some other series in the mystery section of Bolen Books - there's the Harper Connelly series, the Aurora Teagarden series, and the Lily Bard series - they should be read in order (you can find out the order by visiting her website)
Katherine Hall Page writes some really good mysteries - the titles all start with 'The Body . . . in the Belfry, in the Basement, etc'
The Amelia Peabody series is good - can't remember the author off hand but the first book to read is 'The Crocodile in the Sandbank' - google it and you'll come up with the author - again, this is a series, so you need to start with book #1.

This is quite funny. My favourite show on TV is Bones which is about a Forensic Anthropolgist called Temperance Brennan. So I get Kathy Reichs book Deja Dead out of the library and start reading and it is the same character.
I remember vagely that they said it was based on a novel series or a real person but I never clued in to check out the books about her.
Now I am excited about reading her series. Thanks.

I suggest you try Leon Uris -- he's not exactly a mystery author but writes excellent historical fiction. My favourite of his is Trinity. You may enjoy his stuff.
