Ack! Toddlers!
Had to rant about this somewhere where people will understand. Was folding laundry while DS was sitting in the laundry basket... Not unusual in this house. Wasn't really paying attention to what DS was doing, but evidently I should have.
So I reached over for another piece to fold, and noticed that DS had his hand in his diaper... look at him closer and he has poop smeared all over his legs and hands and it is also all over the CLEAN LAUNDRY that is in the basket with him
.
Then he reaches over and wipes his hand on my arm...
So I took both of us to the change table and wiped us down with baby wipes...
Can't wait for DH to get home so I can shower.

Re: Ack! Toddlers!
Nope, not the folded laundry - thank goodness for small blessings, lol.
And definitely glad I wasn't at a laundromat!

Sorry you had this experience today. Your retelling of it did make me smile though.... little ones are so innocent... and so generous (sharing things with you by wiping this on your arm). Hope you enjoyed a nice warm and LONG shower.

Re: Ack! Toddlers!
I laughed when I read you post because just yesterday the same thing happened at our house! All of the clean laundry was on the floor and my 3 year old was getting me to bury him in it (okay there was alot of it) and I looked over at my one year old who was burying himself in the laundry smiling away, hand in diaper, with pooh everywhere. Feels good to know these things don't only happen at our house. Thank you!

Re: Ack! Toddlers!
the_mom - so glad to know I'm not alone!
Yesterday was the poop on everything day around here. DS was playing in the living room with DH while I cleaned up after dinner. I hear "Are you poopy?" several times from DH, but assume he is handling it because he is with DS.
Then I hear DH say "ew... gross!", so I go to investigate. DH has DS under his arm rushing to change him, and he says "there's poop all over the horse!" referring to DS's beloved plush rocking horse...
Now, if DH had just changed DS when he first asked him if he was poopy, I wouldn't have to get rid of the rocking horse (can't be cleaned easily, and DD is able to get to and chew on everything). Apparently the fact that DS was butt scooting on everything wasn't a sign he should check the diaper out?

Re: Ack! Toddlers!
it does seem to be a genetic thing with some guys that they just don't get these things...I just have to remind myself that for me it is second nature because it is what I do all day - throw me into DH's office and I wouldn't last the day...
But sometimes with him and parenting decisions it is a definite "don't quit your day job" kinda situation. Although he is really good with the kids under most circumstances and spends tons of time with them, and even helps with the overnights and bedtime, so I'd still give him an A as a father - just sometimes flunks the pop quizzes
