It's always sad. A while ago I posted about the arthritic older dog we took in. He is scheduled to go to sleep on Friday. Only had him a short while but what a dog! It's his time though. Grandpa ( my nickname for him) loves loves loves the water so, he is going to go have a nice big swim before his appointment. He'll go happy at least

With everything else you have going on this must make your days even worse. Sorry you're going through this, but hopefully seeing him loving his final swim will be the memory you keep last.

Aww...I'm so sorry to hear this news. It isn't easy...but what a wonderful life you made for him at the last. You are a wonderful person to have opened your home and heart like you did for him. I feel so sad for you and for him in a way, but glad he's with you at the end.

That's so sad. It's nice though that he'll get to enjoy his last days with you...though it must be so hard knowing your time is limited with him.

I am ok, working in a nursing home, I've accepted sometimes the best gift you can give someone is a sweet goodbye. It is always sad though. He's being pampered like crazy though which he deserves

Seriously, I don't know you IRL or your dog, but I CAN'T stop thinking about you. I feel so sad about tomorrow. I'm glad you are with him.
I'll be thinking about you tomorrow ( I haven't stopped...) I don't know why this is weighing on me like it is. (HUGS) You're a good person and he'll know he was loved and that's the important thing. Give him a hug from me and wish him sweet dreams. His story has touched me.

We've had some good times today. I went out and bought him a T-Bone now He's been so playful it's almost making me question the decision but it's not my call. He will be buried on our old property next to his long time "brother". The acreage is out of our hands as of Sunday, that's why the swiftness. I know it's his time, while still happy, he is going downhill very fast so it's best.
Are you working tomorrow? We can have a doggy playdate if you're not .

Yeah, I work all day tomorrow...that would've been nice to do if I wasn't.

So, it wasn't sitting right totally as he's still happy and doesn't appear to be in pain. Sometimes you'd think he was a puppy. We're going to hold off. The minute he will seem unwell we will.
It's a huge decision. My gut says it's coming, but it also says just not yet.

Awww, I'm glad you decided not to right now. After your post when you said you were sort of second-guessing and he was acting so playful...I wondered if you might.

You'll know when it's time and it seems it's not quite time yet and that's OK.

It's a tough decision to make and the last thing you need is to have doubts about the decision you made. That would haunt you I think (if you did it with reservations)

Sounds like you did the right thing...tho I've been dreading checking back here for the "update"...
