rave for the internet...
I am back in touch with a great uncle of mine I haven't seen since I was a teenager. (my grandpa's brother) Him and I have been corresponding & he has been scanning old photos of himself and my grandpa from when they were little babies and young boys. I have never seen any of these photos before in my life, he is sharing little stories about each photo. It is really amazing, each day I see a new batch with a little blurb about the photo.. The resemblance with my son, my grandpa and his brother are just uncanny! I just find it so touching seeing them as cute little boys with no shirts on, with a baseball bat over their shoulder ready to go play and just be so carefree.
I also found out that their oldest brother (whom I was told had died of leukemia) had actually died from an infection.. He fell off his bike and scraped his knee up pretty badly, but by the time he was treated infection had spread so quickly that his kidney's shut down. Penicillin was new but was being sent out to the troops, this would've been 1943. Penicillin could've saved his life. My grandpa and his brother were only 9 & 10 when their big brother died.
I am going to make a scrapbook with these photos and history.
