Summer Markets - Reasonable Liability Insurance Provider?
I'm going to be a food vendor at some of the summer markets this year, and require liability insurance (part of the application process to be able to sell). I was pointed to a provider in Calgary who apparently specializes in market vendor insurance, but their quote was $500 for three months! Does this seem high? This is my first time getting liability insurance so I have nothing to base it on. Does anyone who has done the market circuit before have any other suggestions? TIA!

For 3 months that is reasonable I think! I work in insurance and have given quotes from companies around $175 for one day!

We sold food at several markets a few years ago and didn't need liability insurance. It sounds expensive. I don't think I would have bothered if we had needed the insurance.

we had some really high quotes of liability insurance for a weekend camp that I organize but found Dan Lomas at Pringle insurance in Duncan gave a fantastic price. Try him 250-748-3232 he was great at finding us a good price.

This is probably the one you were already directed to: http://www.palcanada.com/
They will give you the best rate. $500 for 3 months doesn't sound high. When I do the baby fair it's about $100 for just the weekend and I'm not selling food. What market are you at that is requiring liability insurance? I haven't heard of that before from any of the markets.
