ISO doctor

Postby renka on Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:43 am

I know this comes up all the time but I need to ask to see if there is any hope....

Our family doctor retired recently and she said she had set us up with another doctor but when I called them they had no idea what I was talking about.

I have 4 young kids - one with a medical condition that needs constant supervision, I have my own medical issues that I will likely need surgery for......receptionists don't want to hear my sob story and so far no one will even put me on a wait list.

The last person I talked to told me to go to the Victoria Medical Society website but there is one doctor taking new patients in Victoria and that dr doesn't have good reviews.

How is this ok? When I talk to people about it they have their own horror stories of going years without a doctor.

I know there are a lot of people in the same boat but I am just putting this out there to find out if there is anyone who knows if there is a doctor willing to take new patients or even willing to put us on a wait list?

We live in Saanich.

I feel your pain....
Our super awesome family doctor leaves Duncan to come to Victoria this month...which is devastating to say the least..I know he is doing ER but its in the air whether or not he'll do family practice. Keep an eye open for a Dr.Scott accepting patients in the future..Super awesome and beyond amazing with kids. Dr.Toth has also been contemplating doing family practice in Victoria..
2 names to watch for.

I have friends in Victoria who haven't been able to get a family doc and their daughter has some serious issues going on and the walk in clinic is so frustrating for them cause no one knows the history.

When our clinic here in town opened in Duncan there was people coming from Victoria just to get a family doctor..its nuts.
Maybe look into the Mill bay clinic?

I don't want to steal your post but I am in similar situation like you.
My family doctor retired. She was wonderful and we have been with her for many years. I had a surgery last week and I will have another surgery in two weeks. I need to find a family doctor because of my health history.
I am at lost. No one is taking new patients.
