It's a lot harder to keep a cat in a yard than a dog in a yard. Fencing your yard with a high and low fence will actually also help to keep the cats out - especially if they know a dog lives there.

I used to love cats and own 2, but the relationship definately turned sour the first time I found fresh poop in a freshly-planted deepbed (with the seeds dug up of course).

Outdoor litterbox. I purposely leave a few deepbeds empty so that cats poop there instead of in my garden. I dig them around from time to time, as cats like freshly dug soil. After I plant new seeds, I'll mulch around them to deter the cats. It doesn't work 100% but it does help.

Marigolds. The smell of marigolds repels cats naturally. And they are a bright and cheery flower, so unless you have a strict theme for your garden, they should look nice too!

if you know who's cat it is, I would just scoop up the ppop, put it in a bag and leave it on their doorstep with a note that says "you're cat brought this to my house. I thought you would appreciate it back as it belongs to you."
