Cloth menstrual pads?
I'd really like to start using cloth pads as the disposables really irritate my skin. So far, I'm finding them kind of expensive. The Luna Pads look great and are pretty and all but I just cannot spend $15-20 per pad!
I don't care how much I'd save in the long run, I just can't do it!
Is there a more reasonably priced option out there? Do any local WAHM make these?

That's all I've used for the last several years. In fact, I just had a friend of mine sew me up some more liners.
She lives just a minute away from you C so nice and handy:)

I can't say enough good stuff about using cloth pads. One of the bonuses is that my period is 1-2 days shorter now!!

Just curious, but how would the type of pad you use affect how long your period is?

Disposable pads have chemicals in them. Chemicals, especially on that part of the body, can cause irritation and cause more bleeding.
I've done a lot of reading on using natural (I have bamboo cloth pads) pads and a lot of women state that they have also found that their periods are shorter than when they used disposables.
It does really make sense when you think about it.... I'm not much of a conspiracy theory type thinker...but, pad companies will profit more if their product has to be used more, kwim?

I use a diva cup. I have noticed shorter periods and no cramping since I started. Highly recommend.

There are many factors to having shorter periods, age, body chemistry, hormones, stress, what you eat..I highly doubt the type of pad you are using effects your cycle length. I have noticed now that I am into my mid 30's that its even shorter and sometimes it skips a month, also less cramping than in my 20's... (I have been tracking my cycle with an app for my ipod) I know it is back to how it was when I was a teen. My 20's consisted of babies and that changed up a lot of things in that department. (specially after the birth of my 2nd)
So I really doubt that this "wonder pad" can shorten your cycle. Thats just me always the skeptic.

My friend makes them and sells them on Etsy. Bonus? She's in town so you may be able to make arrangements to pick them up and save on shipping.

Re: Cloth menstrual pads?
Here is my TMI, I have a Mirena IUD and I get very very little period, using a Tampon would not work. Using a disposable Pad seems wasteful and it is irritating. I basically made some liners from flannel, fleece and cotton and they are not pretty, 3 layers sewn together. Works wonders. I don't see why people get grossed out, people are never bothered by using cloth diapers. I have had a few eeew comments when I tell people. I figure better for me, better for the environment.

Nothing wrong with being a skeptic...I stated MY experience. And that's that:)
It works for me and that's important to me.

I think Angels6 from KIV and Blue Zoo Boutique also makes them locally.

I have some from http://www.bluezoobabyboutique.com/ also, they are made with bamboo (?) chenille and have been wonderful. She's a KIV'er and is truly wonderful with customer service and quality products. I don't recall how much they were, I think around 9.00 each?? I bought 6 of them. I figure, the disposables cost less, but you'll need to resupply...

TMI but how are they for someone who has very heavy clots? Do they absorb those well or am I looking for a huge nightmare in terms of trying to keep things in place while cleaning up kwim?
