Spearmint tea for acne?
I read an article that recommends drinking spearmint tea for hormonal acne which I'm suffering from. The author recommended drinking several cups of spearmint tea a day to get rid of the acne. I don't like tea but I'm willing to try it. A coworker told me she couldn't find spearmint tea at Thrifty so I went to Silk Road and bought some loose tea there - it's a green tea and spearmint blend. I haven't tried it yet. I did sample their Angelwater tea which has spearmint and is one of the most popular - I didn't like it, it tastes like herbal tea (blech) and I can't see myself drinking 2-3 cups a day.
Now I'm doing some research online, which I probably should have done earlier, and I read that green tea can cause breakouts for some people. Great.
Does anyone have any personal experience with this? Where can I find plain spearmint tea? I keep reading about Bigelow tea but I don't know if any of the stores carry it in spearmint.

There is another condition that can also result in a condition which may be confused with hormonal acne. It is Rosacea. I was diagnosed with it recently and there are some specific medications/treatments that can help with it. If you haven't seen your Dr. it may be a good idea. I have not tried any tea treatments so I cannot comment on this.

Oh no, it's definitely acne and it's not just on my face. I went to a dermatologist a year ago and his advice was to take Accutane which I won't be doing.
I do have a constant redness on the lower part of my face, though, in addition to the acne so I've wondered if I have rosacea as well. I don't know much about it, though. One thing at a time, lol.

Why not go to a coffee/tea shop and just purchase a small cup of tea. That way you can see if you like it first. Then ask them if they sell the tea bags by the box, some places like starbucks do, or they can tell you the brand so you can buy it elsewhere. The biggest selection of boxed tea I have seen is at Walmart of all places. I don't drink the plain spearmint tea, but I do enjoy the camamile one that has mint in it.(I can't recall the brand at this moment).

try David's Tea- you can get a sample size portion to try before you buy a larger quantity. I hadn't heard of spearmint tea for acne, but a year or so ago, Dr. Oz suggested a cup of spearmint tea to help prevent facial hair growth in women. A lot of the green black and white teas have different healing properties. ie: teas with hibiscus in will help to naturally lower blood pressure

Fish oil really helps with hormonal things (I go for Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil- you can get it in capsules so you don't have to taste it). The other thing that I know of that commonly cures acne is going off dairy products.
I have been learning that Dandelion Root is also amazing for hormone imbalances. If your liver is not impaired I have read that you can take Dandelion Root tincture at a daily dosage to fix hormone problems. If your liver is unhappy you can still take Dandelion Root but it would be better to take it in a tea form and then move to capsules and finally to the tincture.

Just noticed Davids Tea at Uptown definitely has it. I was browsing their pamphlet.
