photo cake?

Postby wonderwoman on Mon Mar 04, 2013 9:30 pm

Anyone know who will do a cake with a photo on it? Went to Thrifty's Broadmead today and they said they don't do them.

hmmm unfortunately that won't work. My little one is not too keen on ice cream cakes. It must be chocolate cake :)

Try Save on Foods. I'm reasonably certain they did them a few years ago.

Thrifty's at Cloverdale will print edible images for you, up to a 11"x14" size.

All I brought to them last year for DD's cake was a colour picture that she wanted and they printed it out on an edible sugar sheet. Took about 10 mins and it was $14.

I was just told to keep it in a flat and cool place and just ice the cake right before so that the icing is still fresh for the image to adhere to.

I baked my own box slab cake and it was a big hit. :)

Excellent! Thanks. Just wondering what size picture you brought in. Does it have to be the actually size you want on the cake it can they enlarge them somehow?

I'm not sure about the enlargement but the image I brought in was probably a 10"x12"? I blew up the image myself, printed it on colour ink and brought the sheet into the store.

You could contact the store bakery directly to ask them so that you know what they can and cannot do for your specific needs.

Also, I brought in a Hello Kitty image and they didn't have a problem with printing it (I know some other smaller bakeries I called said that they could only print images that they had copyright permission for - basically whatever they had on their website was what we could use)

Hope that helps.

I've always just emailed them an image (I"ve done this at our store and at the Country Grocer in LC) I just get the email from the bakery clerk I speak with on the phone :)
“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”
