A few tidbits....
my friend enjoyed the one at the Commonwealth with Steve Marta and she likes a good/hard workout,
I did one at JDF with Keri...someone...top kick boxer chick that really worked you; it wasn't alot of choreography, just hard work but good, muscles hurt you didn't know you had....
I called the place in Colwood the other day (Olsen's?) and found it expensive...

Planet Fitness women's zone, Marilyn's class, is awesome. I don't like the class by the other woman, don't know her name.
Marilyn is super easy to follow, good music. I think you'd have to buy a membership to go to the classes though, I'm not sure. Maybe you can buy a punch card? I think drop in is around 10$? It's worth calling there and asking... although they probably won't tell you anything over the phone, you'd probably have to go in.

Are you looking to joing actual kickboxing or take those kickboxing inspired aerobics? I've never tried the latter, but use to kickbox for a brief period of time before I became pregnant.
I really enjoyed it, and it was a super work out. I hate the whole aerobics thing. You couldn't get mt to join one of those to save my life - tired a step class once - HATED IT. Tried a normal aerobics - HATED it. But I really enjoyed the kickboxing.
I can't help as to where to go in Victoria as my Dojo was in Calgary.

I joined Zuma for a while. Here is the website. http://www.zuma.tv/
Now that my husband has moved to Calgary. It wasn't easy for me to continue. I had tons of fun!! A great workout. Quite expensive. I was looking for actual kickboxing not the aerobic type. That is why I didn't mind paying the money.

I am kickboxing and loving it. I got a year membership at Canada's Best Karate http://www.canadasbestkarate.com/ and drop in to the classes I can during the week (there are classes six out of seven days). It's not the aerobic-style classes, it's actual kickboxing. And it's only women in the class, including the teacher.
I love it because I get to feel my own body's power. After having 5 kids, I knew my body had enormous power, but now I get to feel that power frequently. And I always come out of the class feeling worked, tired and wonderful.
I combine that w/ some runs during the week and I am hoping to get my old body back... whatever that looks like now.
Check into it if you think you'd dig it.

For Zuma, it is 10.oo a class, or you can pay 80.00 a month,( you can pay for the year) you get the pants and a shirt.
They moved to vic west, just off of Tyee rd.
GIve them a call, it is totally worth it.
The owners name is Adam or you can talk to a girl named Sara.
It IS NOT the aerobics kind of class, you end up being paired up with someone, so it is always more fun if you can bring a girlfriend with you.
the phone number is on the web page. I don't know it the address has been changed on it yet.
It is a very addicting class, and a great way to get out any frustrations you have during the day, and bring lots of cold water.

Good instincts usually tell you what to do long before you head has figured it out.

I signed up for Womens' only Beginner Kickboxing through Juan de Fuca last summer. The instructor was Kari Scar. As far as I was concerned, it was NOT beginners. She showed up late the first class, then jumped right into the routine. I expected an introduction, and some basic theory on kickboxing, and a few demonstrations of some of the moves. I hated it. I hated being stuck in the back scrambling to try and catch up all the time. There was a large group of women who clearly do ALL of her classes and amongst them were a few "suck-ups" who clammered for Kari's attention at any chance. Good workout? YES! But I felt it was a dissapointing waste of my time and money. Make sure that if you are a beginner, ensure the instructor teaches the basics and gives the proper time to make sure you have your form right.
Good luck and have fun!
