Does anyone know if they are at Hillside now? Or anywhere? I need to get a shirt for my oldest. Thanks!

There was an ad in the latest Island Parent (the summer planning edition one) - I will hunt it down, if you don't have a copy! They have a store location, I believe the ad said?

At MEC they have kids sun swimsuits. I love the one I bought for my son. It dries quickly and protects him from the sun. Check out MEC online. They are on gov. across from Montys. Please Mum also has just the shirts.

I picked up stuff at No Zone on Douglas and the staff were great. As they are just setting up the retail side of things (most of it is done with on-line ordering) so it is pretty quiet it there. Very helpful staff and the quality of the items are great. I'd recommend them.

I don't know how 'authentic' the ones at Please Mum are, but we have two from last year, and my son had 'farmer tan' from them so I figure they work well. I wondered the same thing as you. If they don't have any tan on the area covered by the shirt does it mean they are UV protected?

Not necessarily. UVB rays are the "Burning" rays. UVA rays are the "Aging" rays. UVA rays go deeper and cause more damage but they don't cause a burn. The only way that you can tell if clothing will protect you is if it has a UPF rating (similar to a SPF rating) of 50+.

The ones at Please mum do have the SPF rating - although I can't remember what it is now - I threw out the tag but I know it was enough to make me feel comfortable and if you knew me well....let's just say I could relate to the 'over parenting' thread!

J's mom, I didnt know about that! Thats good to know..Ive always lathered up the kids from head to toe then put on the sunshirts for extra protection. Can never be too sure!! Im so fair and burn easily so Im quite protective when it comes to being out in the sun! I always feel better when they have the sunshirt protection..as when they stay over at my parents place, they only put on sunscreen once during the day and that freaked me out..I told them to put it on every 3 hours and after being in the pool..I didnt have a shirt at the time for my oldest as his from last year was too small and had passed it onto my youngest intending to get a bigger one for my oldest...
Oh another thing..trying to remember how to put it..with sunshirts to tell if they are no good, is to put it up to a light source (not directly) and if you can see the outline of the object in front of you, its no good. If you cannot make out the shape, then its excellent..Dont look through double material..one piece at a time..
