Looking forward to an answer...I was wondering the same thing!

There is a little guy at my son's daycare who is 14 months who eats them for a snack but I have not given them to my 14 month old yet.

I haven't given any to my daughter since I am worried she may choke. So I wondered what others were doing.

I'm not as paranoid about raisins as I am grapes. Raisins are smaller so I think that's why. I think it depends on your child, there is no set age. If your child has a bad gag reflex, best to wait a while, if you're child is eating everything under the sun, go for it. Just start with maybe 1 at a time and go from there. The biggest problem I find with kids is that they tend to shove handfuls into their mouths.

I have an 18 month old that eats them in my care and does just fine, but another child their age I wouldn't even think of giving them to cause his gag reflex is so bad.

Good luck

We started raisins around 14 months, DS had 12 teeth by then. He loves 'searching' for them in his cereal in the morning! We make sure to brush his teeth afterwards as raisins are a terrible culprit for causing tooth decay :? (along with fruit leathers and fruit bars).

I buy the smallest raisins I can get and my DD has had them since before she turned a year old.

I was warned about giving children raisins and fruit leather. I guess because it sticks to their teeth it advances the causation of cavities. Who really knows though! :?
