old garage sale signs EVERYWHERE!!

Postby islandmom on Fri Oct 06, 2006 8:05 pm

I dont know why it bothers me so much but every day on my way home I pass by at least 10 garage sale signs that were from weeks and even months ago (one I saw today from the middle of July!!) I even see them all over the ground near certain intersections.
This to me is littering! If you have a garage sale and put up a hundred signs that is great, but how lazy do you have to be to not go and dispose of them when you are done?
I am alone with a small baby so I cant get out on my own right now but as soon as my DH gets home from Halifax, I am going to go and get them all and deliver them all to the houses they came from.

I thought I was the only one this bothered. I was just telling my son the other day just how horrible I thought it was that people don't take down their signs. I like your idea of removing them and returning them to their owners!!!

garage sales signs don't bug me much... the thing that bugs me are the memorials from ages past on the side of the roads... totally distracting, etc... come on, if you want to remember the past loved one, go to a cemetary and morn there or take it down after a certain amount of time... don't just leave it up to distract the drivers on the road.
If I am going to be unique, I am going to be unique with flair.

The signs are messy tacky things, and yes- the idea of delivering them to the home owners is a good one  or, to the address on the paper- it may be new occupants, of course.

SP-i find they are a distraction, but I like that memorials exist. When I traveled in Mexico, there were some that were quite elaborate, and served as a reminder too, that death on the hiways is a common reality. People and their cells, and other distractions, are more of a concern to me than road side memorials.

well i was alwasy told.. if people keep the signs up they dont care how there city or cummunity looks..

not all cities let you put up signs.. in some place you need a permit to have a garage sale and you can only have 2 a season..and must take down signs or you get fined

so yes people take down your signs it makes victoria look messy if you keep them up
