Chocolate can lower chance of cardiovascular disease
Individuals who feel guilty about eating chocolate can rejoice. Experts in Britain recently released research that claims a connection between consuming chocolate and reduced risk of heart disease. Moderation is also believed to be of key importance, so it doesn't suggest one can eat a whole pint of chocolate guilt-free. Chances of disease decrease
As reported by CBS, a study was done involving a link between heart disease and chocolate. The British Medical Journal will soon be publishing the findings. To be able to see if there was any sort of scientific reason to eat chocolate on a larger scale, University of Cambridge experts studied over 100,000 individuals. There were five studies that showed the same results. Diabetes, stroke and heart attack were unlikely in people who ate more chocolate. The Guardian reports that in the study, the individuals compared were those who ate a lot of chocolate versus those who ate hardly any or none. Many individuals ate more chocolate with a 29 percent lower chance of diabetes. The risk for heart disease was 37 percent lower. A 31 percent lower risk of stroke was shown too, according to ABC.
Keep away from too much chocolate
The health benefits of chocolate did not address the types of chocolate included. However, they did issue a caution about the findings. Individuals need to indulge in moderation since chocolate has lots of sugar and fat. The chocolate health benefits had two explanations. The risks of heart disease and stroke could decrease since flavonoids are in chocolate which are anti-oxidants that can increase arterial blood flow, as reported by WebMD. According to the Guardian, chocolate is good for comforting. This might be another cause of the connection. There is more sugar and less cocoa powder in most chocolate. Having more of it might reduce stress even better.
Take it with a grain of salt
There was no proof that there was a connection between chocolate consumption and heart disease risks, the authors pointed out. The correlation was considered “statistically robust” by one physician. This Yale University physician explained this point to ABC. Other contributing factors of cardiovascular disease that chocolate eaters may have were considered either, meaning there was no sort of control. USA Today reports that the study lead researcher Dr. Oscar Franco said that the patients in the study had different amounts of chocolate eaten per week. Obtaining the benefits could take place with just a little bit of chocolate. A lot isn't needed. Having a moderate amount is good. It just needs to occur regularly.
